App Lock

Protecting personal data goes beyond just safeguarding online accounts. Physical device security is equally essential. The App Lock feature has been introduced to ensure that even if someone gains physical access to your device, your app's personal data remains shielded from prying eyes.

What is App Lock?

App Lock allows you to lock the app screen on your mobile Viewer and Camera devices. If someone gets physical access to your smartphone, App Lock helps you protect your personal data from unauthorized access.

How to set up App Lock?

1. 1. Go to your Viewer device
   2. Go to the More tab
      
      
   3. Enable App Lock
      
      
   4. Enter a backup email (Recommended: Use an email that is different from your Alfred account)
   5. Tap Get verification code
   6. Alfred will send a verification code to your backup email
   7. Enter the verification code in the app
   8. Set up a 6-digit numerical PIN code
   9. Re-enter the PIN code

After setting up App Lock, it will be activated automatically when the Alfred app is running in the background for more than 30 seconds or after 1 minute of inactivity.

How do I change my PIN code?

1. 1. Go to your Viewer device
   2. Go to the More tab
      
   3. Tap Change PIN Code
      
      
   4. Enter your current PIN code
   5. Set up a new PIN code
   6. Re-enter the new PIN code

How do I change my backup email?

1. 1. Go to your Viewer device
   2. Go to the More tab
      
   3. Tap Change Backup Email
      
      
   4. Enter your PIN code
   5. Set up a new backup email
   6. Tap Get verification code
   7. Alfred will send a verification code to your backup email
   8. Enter the verification code 

What if I forgot my PIN code?

You can reset your PIN code by the following steps:

1. 1. Go to your Viewer device
   2. Tap Forget PIN code on the App Lock screen
      
      
   3. Alfred will send a verification code to your backup email 
   4. Enter the verification code 
   5. Set up a new PIN code
   6. Re-enter the new PIN code 

What if I'm locked out by App Lock?

App Lock provides a maximum of three attempts before locking the AlfredCamera app. If you exceed this attempt limit, the app will be locked for a duration of 24 hours on all your devices.

You may either wait until the 24-hour lockup period expires or reset the PIN code on your Viewer device. This will allow you to regain access to the app before the lockup period ends.

What if I lost access to my backup email?

For security purposes, we are unable to manually modify the backup email to a different email address on your behalf. If you encounter difficulties accessing the backup email, please reach out to us using the email address associated with your Alfred account. We can assist you in updating the backup email to match the one used for your Alfred account. This will enable you to change the PIN code as needed.

⚠️ Note:

• App Lock only works on app versions that are higher than 2021.5.0. Please update the AlfredCamera app to the latest version on all your Viewer and Camera devices before setting up the App Lock
• App Lock is currently not supported on Alfred's WebViewer/WebCamera.
