Zoom is an exclusive Alfred Premium feature that now supports zooming in not only during Live sessions, but also in Continuous Recording playbacks, Event videos, and Moments. Unlike standard digital zoom features that can make the image blurry and cause lag, Alfred’s Zoom utilizes the camera’s higher resolution to provide a clear and detailed view without sacrificing performance. This ensures a smooth and seamless viewing experience, allowing you to enjoy the premium feature of zooming in on images without any lag.

How do I zoom in and zoom back out?
There are two possible ways to zoom depending on your device model, app version, and resolution settings:
- double-tap on the area you want to focus on to zoom in and double-tap again to zoom back out, or
- pinch to zoom and move the screen around freely
If your device only supports double-tap to zoom, you can only zoom in up to 2 times. On the other hand, if your device supports pinch to zoom, you can zoom in up to 4 times and move the screen around when you're zoomed in.
How do I only monitor the zoomed-in area?
After you exit a Live session, the camera will be zoomed back out. Motion Events generated during this period will be zoomed out as well. After enabling Stay Zoomed-In, your camera will only detect motions within the zoomed-in area. Please follow the below steps to enable this feature:
- Tap the settings wheel in the Camera’s thumbnail
- Enable Stay Zoomed-in in the camera setting
⚠️ Stay Zoomed-in is not supported on AlfredCam (Alfred’s own hardware) at the moment. You may set up the Detection Zone instead to monitor a specific area where you wish to record motions.
What are the requirements for Zoom?
You must be an Alfred Premium user to use both “double-tap to zoom” and “pinch to zoom”. There are some additional requirements for “pinch to zoom” below:
Pinch to zoom
Android | iOS | AlfredCam | |
OS version | Android 5.0+ | Unlimited | Unlimited |

Resolution | Default | Unlimited | Unlimited |
How to change your Camera device resolution setting? (Android only)
- Go to your Camera Device
- Tap "Camera Settings"
- Tap "Resolution"
- Choose "Default"
What are some known limitations?
We tried our best to make the feature work on as many devices as possible. However, there are still some technical limitations:
- Zoom is not available when the device's camera sensor resolution is too low (for example, the front-facing lens on older devices)
- Zoom may be “off-centered” depending on the resolution of the camera sensor. Converting different aspect ratios may cause some bias.
