The Low-Light feature allows you to capture the shapes and outlines of objects in low-light conditions without additional hardware. To do so, Alfred applies a layer of filter to help define silhouettes and shapes more clearly, assisting in distinguishing objects or movements that might otherwise be overlooked.
With that said, if the environment is excessively dark, the effectiveness of the Low-Light filter is naturally limited. It works best in conditions where there is some light present but not enough to clearly see details. In near-complete darkness, the filter can only provide minimal improvement, as it relies on existing light to enhance the visibility of silhouettes.
How do I turn on/off the Low-Light filter?
- Start a Live session
- Go to the second page of the lower toolbar
- Tap the Low-Light icon to enable/disable the Low-Light filter or set it to Auto mode
⚠️ Note: When it is set to Auto mode, your Low-Light filter will automatically turn on when there isn't enough light.

Why is there a green hue on my screen?
Your video image will have a green hue at all times when the Low-Light Filter is turned on. As the added layer of the filter increases the contrast, reduces the color and emphasizes the outline of objects so you have a clearer picture of the screen.
What is the best setup for me?
For Android users, you could adjust the exposure level of your Low-Light filter and see which works best for you:
- Go to the Camera device
- Tap the Camera's settings wheel
- Tap Low-Light Filter"
- Select between the exposure levels
⚠️ Note:
- The light level of the Low-Light Filter depends on your device and the environment. Therefore, the effect of the same exposure may differ from device to device.
- Exposure settings is not available on the iOS Cameras.
What if the frame is still too dark with the Low-Light filter?
Since Alfred cannot add infrared lenses to your Camera devices directly, for optimal results, especially at night, consider setting up a dim light source near or around the Camera. It doesn't have to be very bright; even a soft glow can significantly improve the filter's performance. This allows the filter to work more effectively, ensuring clearer images and better overall video quality.
⚠️ Note: We recommend using AlfredCam's (Alfred's own hardware camera) Night Vision for the best image quality in the dark environment. You may see more information here on how to purchase an AlfredCam.
