Along with a new brand identity that captures Alfred’s simplicity and ease of use, we also have a team of usability experts dedicated to optimizing the interface for our users.
We are excited to announce a few enhancements that this team has made to improve user experience and efficiency.
Refreshing page design makes you always feel at home
Alfred users often spend many hours a day in the app, so we want it to be a place where they always want to be, no matter what the time of day or their current mood.
The new color palette improves readability and brings a whole new experience
Inspired by the calming and relaxing atmosphere of a lake house at dawn, mixed of course, with the Alfred orange, we created a new color scheme throughout the app.
The visual tips give you clear instructions for further actions
These new styles are not only pleasing to the eye but they are also designed to make navigating the app easier and more efficient.
In general, we use Alfred orange to aid recognition. It highlights which section of the app you’re currently viewing and is the background color for the most important button on the page.
The Camera has a larger preview and a simple lock screen
Leaving no stone untouched, we wanted to ensure that the user had a smooth and joyful experience on the Camera's side as well, so we did some rearranging.
As you can see in the old UI, a lot of information covered the preview image and lock screen.
Our new UI repositions important information to the center of the screen. Secondary information, however, is placed in the corners.

The Alfred you’ve always wanted.
User-friendly interface keeps you in control of everything
What our users want most is to be able to use Alfred in a matter of seconds. Thus, one of our biggest aims when redesigning the Alfred UI was to make it as easy as possible for users to move around the app.
The redesigned settings page perfectly matches your Android & iOS devices
We made it easier for users to move between each interface, page, and section, making everything more accessible and located where users would expect it to be.
For the user, this means only having to build that muscle memory for a small number of page layouts, making it quicker to use and easier when training new users.
The concise descriptions let you grasp all the information at any point
We really focused on the simplicity of the Alfred user experience.
For example, entering Camera Settings with one click, you can find all the information you need to know without another click. What’s neat is how we carried this simplicity through every aspect of the app.
The friendly reminders catch your attention so you don’t miss something important
As well as updating the information, we’ve also added some friendly reminders, which are how we make sure users are aware of what to do next or where they are in the app at all times.
These reminders also make places where a lot of repetitive information is needed more visually pleasing and important information is easier to find when you’re browsing the page.
It’s a lot harder to get lost in our new UI!
Hidden new features help you create a better Alfred
Each of our updates includes bug fixes and performance improvements. This time is no exception. What’s more, we also put some new features in the upcoming version.
