Today, we're announcing a significant change to our storage policy, which prioritizes maximizing functionality while offering more tailored services to our diverse user base.
What’s Changing?
Our journey started with a commitment to secure cloud storage. However, we're evolving to offer a more tailored experience. Starting from March 19, 2024, free users will have their Activity Events stored locally on their Camera devices, bringing a new approach to data management. This shift will gradually extend to manual-recorded Moments as well.
For our Premium users, cloud storage remains an exclusive feature, offering a seamless and expansive storage solution.
What does this mean for you?
As a free user, your Activity Detection and Moments recording features will remain unchanged in functionality. However, instead of cloud storage, your data will now be saved directly on your Camera device.
Key Changes to Note:
- Provided there's adequate internal storage, the familiar 7-day retention period continues, with older footage being overwritten as new Events occur
- With the transition to local storage, you will need to ensure that your Camera device is online to access the Event Book
⚠️Note: To ensure optimal performance, your Camera should have at least 400MB of available storage.
Your Options Moving Forward
Rest assured, the process of recording Events and Moments stays the same with adequate internal storage. You'll continue to capture footage with the same ease and reliability as before.
Continue as a free User: Ensure sufficient storage, consider freeing up the internal storage space of your Camera or using a device with larger storage.
Upgrade to Premium: For those seeking more, upgrading to Premium is the way forward. Benefits include:
- Unlimited Cloud Storage: Say goodbye to storage concerns with our cloud, offering a 14-day retention period
- Enhanced Data Protection: Our cloud storage provides an extra layer of security for your precious data
- Event Access, Anytime: Even if your Camera goes offline, access your Events seamlessly with cloud storage
